Hi Mac, that is a very common configuration. Have a look at the stepper_inch and stepper_mm configurations. When you run EMC2 and pick one of those, it will offer to make a copy for you to customize. If you have a very basic machine you probably won't have to do any customization. If you have home or limit switches, spindle control, jogwheel, drive enables, or anything else you will just start building on that sample. There are even some (commented out) HAL commands in the sample file to help with some common setups for these extra things.
