You'd connect the commanded position to change-detect, and the output would be the "full current enable" that you are requesting. You could stretch its output with the "oneshot" component so that the amplifier current limit doesn't go down instantly when there is a programmed pause or the like.
you're right that this gives no "warning" when a motion is about to take place. But getting that warning is a lot like predicting the future: emc was not designed to do it.
