No and Yes. No, we won't be dropping support for 6.06, at least not right away. The current EMC2 release (2.2.x) and the next one (2.3.x) will definitely work on Ubuntu 6.06. I suspect that even 2.4.x will work on 6.06. Yes, we will be supporting 8.04 - there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes already (especially by Alex Joni and Jeff Epler).
