It sounds like these are step servos.  In that case there is no
tuning to be done inside EMC.  If their position lags inches behind
the commanded steps, something is terribly wrong with them.

EMC can't detect this because of the nature of step servos.  With a
full servo configuration, EMC would instantly detect this fault like
Dave says.
