I have played around with either dapper or feisty making a bootable usb memory stick. It worked great - but there was a issue.. Dapper was old enough that a lot of computers allowing usb boot devices where too new for dapper to find most of the hardware. I just got done following these directions.. http://www.ryancloke.com/ubuntu-804-hardy-heron-live-usb-how-to/ and created a persistent emc2 live key chain drive. (using the latest emc2 livecd.) Being persistent - you have a home directory that stays between boots/computers.
