Finally, I'll just observe that an open source developer -- like
anybody else -- can be sued by anybody at any time.  The question is
whether the developer will win or lose in court.  (If they're not
bankrupted first.....)

In this case, however, the *developer* took the lead and sued the
commerical vendor because software vendor *stole* and patented some
ideas and code that had previously been discussed on public internet
sites.  The company then sent the open source developer a bill for
patent infringement.

A nasty case indeed.
