Hello EMC folks,
Please excuse me if this is covered elsewhere.
I bought a sherline 4400 cnc setup for academic research and shelved it about a
year ago. I set it up with a school Dell/ubuntu/emc2 in hopes to get going
before classes start this term. I have been able to manually control the
stepper motors via arrow keys and run a basic gcode example, but I'm told by
the manufacturer that I should be using EMC 1 instead of the new version. I've
got the dell set up as dual boot and would like to keep it that way. It appears
that sherline's install does not offer the option of installing emc as a
standalone program.
The first thing I would like to do is about the size and shape of an 8-10"
writing pen. Any suggestions? I have not been able to find the older downloads
- it would be nice to download the program and sherline lathe examples so that
I may get the concepts.
Thanks much.
