You installed emc2 with a realtime kernel.
Even if the configuration is called sim-axis, that referrs to sim as in
simulated machine, no actual hardware driven. Not sim as in non-realtime.
The error you see tells you the actual problem: you booted the
2.6.24-19-generic kernel, which isn't the realtime patched kernel we bundle
with emc2.
Make sure you have the proper kernel installed (2.6.24-16-rtai if my memory
serves me so early in the morning), then make sure you boot the right one (Hit
Esc just after the BIOS POST messages).

Regards,
Alex

  Subject: [Emc-users] getting Sim-Axis working

After installing the latest version with emc2-install.sh and running Sim-Axis
in Ubuntu 8.04, it chokes. The 1st problem seems to be found in the first line
of the Debug file information section which reads "insmod: can't read
'/usr/realtime-2.6.24-19-generic/modules/rtai_hal.ko': No such file or
directory"

Yep, the directory and file definitely don't exist. Should the install app
have installed this or perhaps I need to install it first? There are several
other errors but this one seemed to be 1st place to start. Shall I include the
whole error log dump?

  -thanks
