Hi John and Kirk,
                            I found a software package called a 'wrapper' in 
Ubuntuland that enabled me to use my Win-XP driver with Ubuntu.
Exactly how I found it is lost in the mists of time (more than a week ago), 
but the word 'wrapper' might help you get what you need.
