Stuart I wanted to say that I totally agree with you, EMC/HAL is useful
well beyond machine control. The modular approach makes it fairly
easy to add feature If you are so inclined. And the more people using
the better -this could become very big indeed. You can see the difference
stepconf has made to popularity just because it is a GUI way of setting
up EMC I think this was a great direction to go!
