Hello, I am a new user of EMC and I am using it to control a 5'x10' CNC router table that uses 2 motors to drive the gantry on the X axis, (one motor on each end of the gantry). I am simply just splitting the step and direction output signals for the X axis to 2 stepper drives. I have been running the machine with EMC for about 3 or 4 weeks and for the most part, everything is running OK. However, I am running without limit switches on the X axis and it's time that I wire them in.
My question is how do I configure 2 limit switches on the X axis, one for each motor, and use them in a way that I can also square my gantry? Currently I drive the gantry to the front of the table, power off, manually pull the gantry against hard stops, then power on again. I'd like to be able to home the gantry and have it so that which ever motor hits a switch first, it will hold while the other motor continues to move and towards it's switch, then both motor would be synched and move off the switches together. I am just not sure how to do this if I am spitting a single step and direction output to 2 drives. I am hoping someone else has solved this issue and can help me out.
