Over the years, we have not only extended EMC from a somewhat limited package to a very complete CNC program, but also found and fixed a number of errors and quirks. You will not be getting all these updates and improvements if you go with the original source. I'm not sure of the legal implications of picking these fixes from the new EMC2 code and putting them into your PD source, but since some of the changes required entirely new files, it may well be impossible.
As I suspect several others are, I am interested in what prompts this line of interest.
