All grounds should be star topology and tied well to the 3rd pin of a power plug. Shielding on cables should be tied to ground at only one end else that can setup a ground loop. You may have to separate motor power wiring from the rest of it physically. In my case the motor cable is a shielded cable, with the shield grounded only at the xylotex driver end of the cable.
