Err.. what?
Somehow that last paragraph doesn't make sense for me.
Mesa and stepconf used together is not right.
Stepconf is a "simple" tool, meant to aid users in creating simple parport 
driven stepper configurations.
If you use mesa boards, (stepper or servo alike), you will have to create a 
configuration by some other means, the parport config created by stepconf is 
useless in that case.

Maybe I am missing the point...
