If the move ONLY involves a rotary axis, then the F word sets the speed 
in rotary units/minute, generally degrees/minute.
(Although you could define roatry axes in radians, for instance, then F 
would be radians/min.)
When any linear axis is also part of the move, then F controls the feed 
in linear units/minute, as you said.
