Hi All, About a year ago I got involved with designing a servo amplifier current limiting add-on feature to an open source ciruit that was started by Samco (skunkworks?) on the cnczone. Here is a link to one of my posts http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25929&page=11 (post#122) I have just finished my prototype which is to be controlled with a Pluto P board using the up/down PWM scheme. I have everything hooked up including encoder ABZ pulses fed through a 74ALS244 bus driver piggy backed on the Pluto for signal integrity / noise attenuation, power is +5.45vdc to the coax terminal (center terminal is positive), the led glows a continuous soft red color, the 1st & only parallel port has been configured as EPP in CMOS, I have installed the latest trunk ver. 2.3 of emc2. Using the Pluto-lathe configuration I cannot start Emc2. The error that I get indicates "Failed to communicate with pluto servo board after programming firmware" ' Actually I don't think the firmware was successfully uploaded because the led continues to glow soft red. So my question is: Do I have to manually upload the firmware using a utility? If not, are there any ideas on how to debug this? Does anyone have a link to some detailed information on hooking one of these up complete with pictures, configs, etc.? I am not finding much out there...
