Hello,

I've tried installing EM2 using the iso image CD, and also using
pre-installed Ubuntu 8.04 and then the install script for EMC2. While I
have no trouble installing standard Ubuntu 8.04 as taken from the Ubuntu
site, I have been unable to get EM2 to install. I have even tried it on
my laptop and my desktop. Both have Athlon X2 64 processors, which show
up as "x86" in the system device manager (under Vista or XP). The
laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1521, using an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core
TK55. I know laptops are reported as being less desirable for control,
but I was just hoping to use it as a platform for learning em2. The
desktop is a one year old HP machine. None of these machines are
hardware limited (4 GB ram, lots of hard disk space, etc)

I've tried installing on external USB hard drives, and the internal hard
drive as well. I feel like I've exhausted all install options. What am
I missing?

The problem shows up as a system hang when booting from the em2 "Live
CD" on my desktop (not even installing - just trying to boot and run
from the CD). It shows up as a bunch of low level exception errors
during booting from a hard drive (after installing from the CD) in my
laptop.

Is em2 compatible with Athlons? I'm looking for ideas to narrow down
the problem. Perhaps I'm doing something obvious that is wrong - not sure.

Thanks for your help!
 - Ben
