Adam, I don't have much experience with the very inexpensive lasers, I have used primarily Synrad up to this point, although currently I am doing a retrofit on three China laser systems. I don't recall the manufacturer of the tubes but I can find out.
So far, considering the price, they are performing quite well. As I recall, they require recharging (CO2) at about one third the hours of the Synrad, which in the latter case starts at about 20,000 hours. Since the rating is based on maximum output, in practice we are talking many years if not decades to put on that many hours. So even one third that time is still not too bad. Aside from the tube, the interface with the Synrad can provide more information and functionality, such as laser and shutter state, integrated shutters, etc. On some models this interface is an option, rather than standard. The China laser basically takes only enable and power level as inputs and has no outputs. Regards, Eric We work with laser cutting and engraving machines, however we have not tried them using EMC as it would need a long conversion job. We have other milling machines run with EMC and they all work very well. We have a new router though onto which a laser tube should be put and the machine could be tested (this time EMC will be used). We have found CO2 laser tubes around the web but they are either very expensive (not chinese) or really low-cost (chinese) that I personally would not trust too much. Could you guys, please share with me where you have purchased the laser tubes and accessories?
