I don't know much about Stepconf, so the only suggestion I can offer is
to try to setup your .hal file by hand using this as a guide:

You might start with starting EMC2 and select Sample Configurations /
stepper / stepper_inch or Stepper_mm, then modify the sample to the
Xylotex particulars. Your sample files should be
in /home/your_username/emc2/configs/stepper/stepper_inch or mm .
