I've been holding back on talking about this for a bit, while some packaging work was being done:
HeeksCAD and HeeksCNC- http://code.google.com/p/heekscad/ http://code.google.com/p/heekscnc/ I am using this open source CADCAM suite with great success now. There are packages for Ubuntu8.10 here: (I've heard that they might work with 8.04 and 9.04 too) http://yamato.hyte.de/packages/heeks/ Here's a simple entry in the wiki showing some of it's capabilities: http://code.google.com/p/heekscnc/wiki/Capabilities It's in the early stages of development, but I thinks it's a winner. I'm trying to help out with drill cycles on it now, since they seem to be missing. It uses python scripting of machining, so I'm naturally very taken by it.
