Not to nit-pick, but the most popular PIC compilers (from Microchip themselves) have free versions that most people use and they work great. (C18 for 8-bit, C30 for 16-bit and C32 for 32-bit processors) Also, the compilers for Microchip's 16-bit and 32-bit processors are GCC.
