I am not sure that the originally-posted magnetic encoder would be too
suitable for a CNC shaft encoder, it seems too likely to suffer from
bit-dither as it seems to measure the position of the magnet axis using hall
effect deveices differentially,  whereas a gray-code optical encoder should
never change its output unless the shaft actually moves by a whole
encoder-step.
