I just noticed on another thread a reference SMP with EMC2. This has me wondering if it is feasible to have two machines controlled by one computer. Only one operator is planned. I have been thinking about using two computers with a KVM switch but it would be even more convenient to use a single computer with two Axis displays on a single screen. I have the two (mini and small mills) machines and currently just switch the cables from one machine to the other and restart EMC2. I have plans to purchase additional drivers etc. after I am totally finished experimenting with the second machine. These are stepper machines that I plan to add encoders for robustness. I also will probably add Mesa parallel port cards. I have an Older Quad Core processor siting on the shelf that could plug into the current motherboard I am using for EMC2. While familiar with realtime I am not familiar with RTAI so I don't know what limitations might be lurking in the shadows.
