For a jog pendant, absolutely. Jogging is done under optical feedback
control, so even with a MPG the odd missed step wouldn't even be
noticed.
With an analogue joypad latency is a non-issue.

I have one that declares itself as "Dragonrise" and I can't recommend
it. It was £5 from ebay. It works, but the analogue sticks have a
large, off-centre dead-band.

I am very likely indeed to be swapping it to a cordless one (the wire
is a bit of a worry near whirling handles, and also limits where the
device can be put down). After some online research (but no practical
experience) the likely choice is the Logitec Cordless RumblePad II.
