I have done the same, but there is a problem using VNC. When the remote desktop (VNC) software is active, the EMC2 latency gets really bad. So it is good for setup, but not for actual milling. Remote milling would be a Bad Idea anyway.
I work on my Mac laptop when I am at the mill and I tried using VNC just so I would not have to change keyboards. That was not too good. But what did work was installing <http://code.google.com/p/synergy-plus/> on the laptop and EMC2 computer. Now when I am working at my machine, I can look up to see the EMC2 screen, and below that is my laptop screen. When I want to do something on the EMC2 machine, I just move the cursor up to the top of the laptop screen and it crosses over to the EMC2 machine. When the mouse is on the EMC2 screen, keystrokes go to that machine. When it is on the laptop screen, keystrokes go to the laptop. Quite nice. -Chuck- On Feb 12, 2010, at 10:34 AM, Andy Pugh wrote: > On 11 February 2010 20:46, <[email protected]> wrote: > >> is it works on UBUNTY operating system? > > VNC does, I use it all the time.
