I had a similar problem over the weekend. I tried to assign an integrated Parallel port 0 as cfg="0x378 in", and it would not be accepted. Eventually I tried it as port 1, ie. "0xd000 out 0x378 in", with the d000 port a dummy port, and it works! Perhaps it will work for you as well.
