i am using EMC in a mixed enviroment with fanuc etc and i see no
difference nor need to change the way tools are offset on mill or lathe

as all my fanucs are setup and have always been setup in the same way
EMC deals with them
which gives u the ability to
A move ur common work trimmer Z which moves all tools in ur table for
you so no need to change 20+ tools.
B alter any work offset (G54 etc) and then again use it to adjust ur
tool lengths, for jigs or multi parts etc. or have jigs on different Z
levels etc etc

the way you are saying to use it, i can see gains and losses users
choice realy, i would say all controls have the option to set it ether
way its just how it is shipped and how you ask it to be setup. and then
what you are used to after.

we all program and use our CNC machines in different ways and non is
wrong or right

but icant see how you can realy say EMC does not follow the "indutrial"
standard becasue lets face it on fanuc, mitishi etc u can change pritty
much any way the control works to your needs and wants if you know how.
so who is and isnt following the "industrial" standard.
