Thank you for the response. I had tried 1 and 2 and also wired up a plug into the printer port simulating the limit switches, no go!
I undefined the limit switches (point 3) and can now start up the machine. Z axis and drill/mill on/off work well. No need to sort out whatever is wrong with the limit switches. Thanks once again, Ian. You have defined limit switches and don't have it. So EMC can't work. You have at least three solution's 1. Wire switches as you defined 2. Define limit switches as 'inverted' so EMC wil think that switches is just right 3.
