What Stu didn't say is that he is damn good at APT and/or its commercial
variant NCL.
APT takes a certain mind-set as do all CAM systems or even CAD-CAM
packages. We do know that lofted surfaces don't work in APT; this thanks
to some apt that I did for a lofted surface that would not work in
apt360 but did in NCL.
APT is very logical and geometric.
Indeed the price is right. :-)

I use synergy for my 2.5D and an occasional 3D .... as in lofted
surfaces. Most of the 3D I can't get to work but that is because of my
own failings not those of Synergy. Anything that can do a variable pitch
extrusion worm is powerful to do almost anything.

When all else fails I program G-code in C. Not the most efficient
process in terms of time.

Almost any CAD/CAM takes a certain way of thinking; if you get a good
match between your package and your mind then you are off and running;
otherwise it can be an exercise in frustration.
