My first disaster was when I attempted to put a VFD inside the CNC cabinet.

The working solution for the 2HP mills was move the VFD onto the machines
and install good Input filter at the VFD. This allowed the VFD to be powered
from the CNC cabinet's master AC power disconnect.
This has worked well for years.
