I could probably make a USC available even if I can't make it. It ought to pretty easy to override the test in, say, the ppmc driver and do the write to the config reg. It could be made a command line option. This makes a lot of sense to do it that way, I think. (I could even figure out how to code that myself!) Were you thinking of changing hal_parport_get() to do the overriding there? I guess that would perform it in just one place, so that also makes sense.
