Aram,

That system uses a set of cameras to detect the position of the
small metal part in order to control the current in the magnets.

If you can write some software that processes the images from two 
or three cameras and generates simulated X, Y and Z encoder counts
I bet EMC could control the magnets as if they were DC servo motors.
