Hi Rudy:

Thanks for the offer of help with files and what not. I may take you up on
that in the near future. Right now I have to wrap my head around this
kinematics thing as it appears I don't fully understand how the whole EMC2
system works. Or am I getting confused with the different requirements of
users of the system? I don't necessarily need a display or simulation of
what the tool path is going to be as I rely on the simulator in the CAM
package that produces my tool path. I am sure that there are other items
that I do need that will show up if I don't understand what I am doing and
plan the project improperly. So I am a little intimidated at the moment. I
do know that I will need XYZABU axis to run the trunnion and rotary table.
This machining center is a Monarch VMC 75 quill machine that I am modifying
which has a U axis. The rotary table is pretty big, for this machine, at
20" diameter so the U axis travel will spend most of its life at the top of
the column.

If you or others could shed some more light on the kinematics requirements
of EMC2 that would be great.

Thanks again - Steve Van Der Loo

Hi Steve

I just last week finished fitting a trunnion and rotary table to my milling
machine. The kinematics programming and machine simulation with VISMACH has
been sorted out and the 5-axis simultaneous control through EMC2 works. The
machine is a XYZAC configuration.

There are some mysterious behaviours that I am currently looking into, such
as no MPG jogging in world mode, and sudden jumps when you stop a GCode
program.

Setting up and touch off is also still a bit of a mystery.

If it would be helpful I could supply you with the ini, hal, kinematic and
vismach files.

Rudy
