Thanks for the correction. Actually, anything I present should be
independently verified before use. Mostly what I was trying to get
across is that the workings of the parallel port can be fairly
complicated, but the good news is that most of the information needed to
solve problems is available somewhere through study, experimentation, or
knowing what questions to ask, which of course, is the bane of "just
works". For "just works" I suppose one could just copy a known good
system's software and hardware versions, which could turn out to be a
bit of work in itself. Probably the most "just works" method is to buy a
just working system. Each method is valid and has its trade-offs, but I
guess I'm not saying anything new.
