by itself.  both require focussing optics and current regulated supply, and
produce an eliptical spot or line with spherical lenses (an image of the wide
emitter junction).  higher power diode bar arrays are around, but probably
would req fiber coupled output for engraving app.

Hello, gentlemen!

I need a laser diode for engraving in wood. I have been looking in
eBay, but I mostly see either ~300mW diodes or something priced over
1K $, which exceeds my budget ten times. There was also one seller
with 20W diodes for a reasonable price, but he could not provide any
information about the laser diode - what is included in package and
characteristics of the output beam. Basically I am looking for
something no more than 10W, most probably that would be something less
than that, because budget is small. So yes - I expect that it would
work relatively slowly. The requirement is the ability for user to
engrave his logo on plywood, before parts are cut out on router.

I would appreciate, if someone would point me to a source of lasers
that I could use for engraving the wood.
Thanks in advance!

Viesturs
