Matt;

Just a FYI; I did a part with cutouts, drawn in QCad. Then through dxf2gcode,
modified the GCode to better suit my usage.

Ok, as I'm a novice at this, too, thought you'd maybe be interested:

1) used Inkscape to get the "winding" of the line segments correct. I'm not
sure if this is an issue or not, but, did it anyway;

2) dxf2gcode; it did not put in the tool offset. I added this by hand, to get
the correct side (left, or right) so that the cuts/kerf were correct;

3) I should have modified the code so that, rather than cut-to-outline in x-y
then drop, the final arc/line should have done the drop in the z direction. The
parts produced have a little bit of an indentation at the point where the drop
in z happened.

In EMC, I could re-load my hand-edited file to see where the tool path
changed; e.g., doing the G41 or G42 cutter radius offset commands moved the
lines slightly; enough that I could see if I did the editing correctly or not.

It's all fun - good luck!
