I have been using this one here:

Which is nicely commented and so hand-editable.

It claims to be aimed at gray-code encoders, though it actually
produces simple binary ones, and it also seems to always put in twice
as many lines as asked for, but by setting "rings" to 1 and lines to
half the required number, it does create a nice starting artwork.

Rather than convert to bitmap (which loses a lot of resolution, unless
you create a huge 600/1200/2400dpi bitmap) I have been sending the
file direct to the printer (with the DOS "copy" command, but I assume
it will work as well with Linux, as long as the printer is PostScript)
