Chuckle, but I'm spoiled, I've had an employee for the last 25 years whose
packrat rating is at least 10x mine, and whom I have been using for a
source of stuff that is now made out of pure unobtainium and has been for
30 years. But like me, he finally hit SS age & retired the first of the
year. So now I'll have to drive over to his place and see if he has some,
if I was really set on doing it. OTOH, I have a blown to hell xylotex
board I can get these screw terminals from and they take up about 10% of
the volume the RJ45 would. The reduced volume makes the sale since there
isn't a heck of a lot of room under the change gear cover of a 7x10-12
lathe. Sold IOW. :)

Besides, the next thing I need to do since the weather has warmed a few
degrees, is to go and cut the board locator recess in the top of a 4x6 hunk
of 1/2 HDPE. But first, drill and tap for some 4-40 retainer screws, which
will distort the HDPE, but when I cut the recess, that should cut away that
distortion. :)

Theoretically... First, I thought I had a 4-40 tap but must have broken
it, so I just put most of a hundred miles on the GMC finding another, and
that one a high priced and el cheapo Hansen at Ace Hdwe in Bridgeport WV.
Not terribly sharp but it did gnaw something that looked & worked like
threads in the HDPE. Hansen used to make pretty decent stuff, 40 years
ago, now they are both dull, and brittle as cold glass. Recently I've had
a lot better luck with those TiN plated Mibro taps, sharp AND good steel.

That HDPE stuff I had forgotten is stringy. But I have a piece of pcb
bolted gently into the pocket, and my dial indicator says it about a thou
high on the right edge. I suspect there is a burr of copper from sawing up
the board that I need to polish away. OTOH, that is about 10 thou closer
to level than my wooden jig was. :)

Now to figure out what to do about the missing drill.h file. More reading
I suspect...

Thanks Przemek,

Cheers, Gene
