I use something like this amplifier: http://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp?p=AP8700 A power supply goes on the antenna coax in the house and the amplifier goes on the antenna outside and gets power through the coax. I can get mostly decent signals from 150 miles or 240 kilometers away, but only the stations I have near line-of-site with. Some days I get no signal but most days I do. I use an antenna similar to this one: http://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp?p=4228-HD and I need both amp and antenna to get a signal.
