x4 mode is turned off.  Does this not count by setting the scale down from 
154 (edges) to 39 (slots) at the same time?  The man page isn't clear on 
that, and I was 'assuming'. That may rate a :(

I'll try that tomorrow though.  The velocity signal seems to be much 
smoother with the X4 mode off.  But I didn't check the scale change when I 
did it.
