Copley 412-series amps or the equivalent AMC are good. The Gecko 320X does not use the tach, so it is basically stepping from one encoder position to the next. A clear tone from the motor indicates the stepper-like nature of the movement. With higher-res encoders, the steps become smaller in distance.
