It came through ok this time Bill, but wth is a .pct? Obviously some sort
of a winders pix format I'd guess, and this install of 10.04-4 LTS linux
hasn't a clue what to open it with. What little wine I have installed,
enough to try & run sketchup but poorly with some functions missing
completely, isn't enough, file not found after thrashing the drives for 30
seconds. I'll save it & see if LibreOffice can sort it. Yes, LO Draw can
open it, but I get 6 teeny pix I would not call thumbnails, more like
little fingernails. I blew it up (275%) to where the pix were about 2"
square, but by then the images were fuzzy. The only comment I'd make is
the r8 spindle seems to be supported by a very small cross section cast
strut that would look to be way too flexible sideways to support a 2.5 HP
DC motor.

Since what made it through the server was 200k once base64's for
transmission, I'd suggest going back to the original camera files, load
them in something like gimp, save as jpeg's, clicking on the preview window
check box, which will tell you the output files size as you adjust the jpeg
compression ratio, and adjust to about 170k because the base64 will expand
it some, and post then one .jpg per posting. If that damages the image too
much, put them up on pastebin with a 3 day expire & post the links.

As far as the triple stack 425's go, google for xylotex. His prices are
tolerable. For drivers, I'm plumb pleased with the 2M542's I bought on
fleabay for a tad over $50/copy. Max psu voltage 50, max current to motor
4.2 amps, programmable microstepping down to 16 or more. You may have to
build your own linear psu, I did a 39 volter for the lathe, used a 28 volt
switcher in the mill, so its top speed is slower. The xylotex driver
works, but lets the smoke out too easily, I've blown 3 of them. I have not
had a problem with the 2M542's yet. Don't run the 2M542 much below 28
volts, the heat goes up as the supply goes down, not recommended below 24
volts. I have all of mine in 1/8 to 3/16 alu walled boxes, with internal
fans to make sure the box gets warm, and the 28 volt kit, with 4 of them in
there also has a muffin fan on the outside which has been adequate to keep
the box surface below 110F on a 98F day.

Cheers, Gene
