At that price, why not buy it?

Of course the OP said "calibrate." I come from a tradition that says one
can't calibrate an instrument using an uncharacterized instrument. Who
knows how the manufacturer in Guang Dong Province, China, arrived at the
stated accuracy of +/-(2%+3) on the 400A range---whatever that means;
the terms are not defined.

If I could borrow, I'd choose an instrument from someone like Fluke
whose statements I have reason to trust (assuming the instrument hasn't
been mistreated, as so many clamp-ons have been). Unfortunately, the
Fluke i410 is priced over USD200.

If I had to buy, I'd try this Uni-T device and characterize it myself
before using it.

Thanks for the pointer. Now that I know of it, I find the same
instrument listed all over the Internet.

Regards,
Kent
