The original Hardinge (probably an HSL-59) was a "second op lathe" or "speed lathe" typically used for things like removing the nub left over from parting. The Servo CNC put a little X-Z gang tool slide on it.
It would be perfect for doing the second op (and even the first op) on an 8mm x 3.5mm diameter steel part I'll be making in the 100's. Here are some vid's of these lathes in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOcb9ql4XP4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEq9B7AEWhs -- Ralph ________________________________________ From: Gregg Eshelman [[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, April 16, 2013 10:51 PM To: Enhanced Machine Controller (EMC) Subject: Re: [Emc-users] sweet little lathe --- On Tue, 4/16/13, Jon Elson <[email protected]> wrote: > > The price is right (right now). Hardinge and $150 rarely go together in the > same sentence! Looks like someone sawed the left 1/3 off a lathe. I've seen several similar stubby lathes for sale in various places, but never that cheap. If you happen to have a use for less than half a lathe... ;) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Precog is a next-generation analytics platform capable of advanced analytics on semi-structured data.
