On a 10EE, I'd assume the chuck alone was more than 100 lbs. But in both cases here motor armature/flywheel would be the major energy storage due to the larger diameter. With this one laying on the table, I'd guess top rpms is in the 7k area. At those revs, there is a lot of energy in the pulley/flywheel/fan. And its got to go someplace when a stop is issued. My OEM 400 watter doesn't have a braking circuit, and will coast for a good 20 seconds if I chop the red button, or click on stop in linuxcnc. If I chop the red button, linuxcnc will error stop, but its from the PID's error output, something I put in to help save fuses at a buck a pop. That cut my fuse budget to less than my insert budget. :)
