The limits were rather ad hoc;  the Z values were the defaults that LCNC gave 
me, from memory. The defaults as loaded initially were all tiny and none of the 
sample NGC files would run until I tweaked the INIs a bit. The other two axes 
in this file were changed a bit, but I never seemed to get the changes to the Z 
axis saved on that (first) version of the 3-axis config.

I'll do as you advise and switch the leads about - I'll need to sort out the 
rats' nest of cable first, though. Thanks for your advice - I'll get onto it 
tomorrow morning and see what transpires.
