If they don't work I'll flush them out with Simple Green, then water, followed 
by a good blow dry with compressed air. That worked to get an oil saturated 
Anilam scale back in operation on an old Bridgeport. It's just a piece of glass 
with a lot of marks on it and the slide is all sealed components. Apparently 
the oil coated the glass and befuzzled the optical sensor so it couldn't 
properly see the marks.
