It seems that the sine/cosine signals from the scales do not actually repeat every 10um. This is the guy's YouTube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIdidzAPgBs&sns=em What he is comparing is the sine/cosine phase as measured by the interpolation software, the position as measured by a 0.1um probe and the distance measured by linuxcnc. The phase should be zero every 10um.
