Take a brush out, then the one that is open-circuit is the one with the missing brush. If all wiring is inscrutable, take all brushes out and use an Ohmmeter to trace the wires to the brush holders. The tach brushes, if even removable, will likely be much smaller than the motor brushes. make sure to mark the brushes or lay them so you can get them all back in the exact orientation as before.
