Lonely list ain't it.  That command got me a much more complete  checkout, 
looking as if I could start with ./configure, but it still bails out, can't 
find OpenGL.  But my system ONLY works with the mesa versions of OpenGL.

Damned if I do. if I put in the rest of opengl, it rips out the mesa stuff 
and the cameras images have no horizontal synch.  Until I put the mesa 
stuff back in after the build, which rips out the OpenGL, and the camera 
works, so why the damned dependence on an OpenGL it does NOT NEED to 
function?

That looks like a missing v4l2-dev package, but that is obviously not the 
right name.
